# Receipting a deposit against a booking

When an owner pays a deposit, you can link it directly to one or more bookings.

Go to **Transactions**  
Click on **$ Create Payment**

1.  Select **Deposit** from Type (drop-down list)
2.  Select the Owner  
    Reference: Anything you want to put if needed.
3.  Put in the amount they are paying, this is the total amount - so if they are paying the deposit on multiple bookings you will put that amount.
4.  Selecting the bookings from the drop down list and it will show you the amount it is expecting. If they have paid more, then just overtype the amount. 
5.  Click on **Add** Item, if you want to add another deposit.
6.  When finished click on Save Payment
